About the Book
मानवशास्त्र (मानवविज्ञान) is a comprehensive and detailed reference book on anthropology, providing in-depth insights into its major branches, including physical, social, cultural anthropology, archaeology, ecology, human evolution, and linguistics. The field of anthropology, once limited to the study of primitive tribes and distant cultures, has now expanded rapidly and is central to understanding the human experience. This book reflects the dynamic and progressive nature of anthropology, offering an updated perspective that incorporates contemporary theories and concepts.
The book covers important topics such as Darwinism, diffusionism, functionalism, structuralism, Marxist theory, relativism, post-structuralism, and modern interpretative approaches. It also delves into the modern issues of globalization, world systems theory, stem cell research, and cloning, making it a timely and relevant resource. This dictionary-style guide is designed primarily for students but also serves as a useful reference for academic anthropologists and general readers with an interest in anthropology.
To make complex terms and concepts more accessible, English equivalents in Devanagari script are provided alongside difficult words and ideas. This book is an invaluable tool for anyone looking to understand the broad scope of anthropology in both academic and practical contexts.
About the Author
Harikrishna Rawat began his academic journey at Maharaja College, Jaipur, where he studied and taught sociology at a time when only a few colleges in Rajasthan offered this subject.
