About the Author:

K.L. Sharma served as a Professor of Sociology at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, from 1972 to 2003. During his tenure at JNU, he held several key academic and administrative roles, including that of Rector (pro-Vice-Chancellor). He later served as Vice-Chancellor at the University of Rajasthan from 2003 to 2005.

Prof. Sharma was also a Visiting Professor at the College de France in Paris from 1991 onwards. His academic contributions are extensive, having supervised more than 100 M.Phil and Ph.D. students and published 20 books and over 70 research papers. His expertise in sociology, particularly in social structure and change, has earned him a distinguished reputation in India and abroad.
