About the Book

This anthology, edited by Kirkit Shah, features seminar papers that explore the fascinating and complex nature of history. As a discipline, history has evolved significantly, and this volume addresses its current existential crisis, shaped by modern media and postmodern critiques that challenge the authenticity and objectivity of historical narratives. The book invites professional historians to reflect on history’s shift from a unidimensional "grand narrative" to a more multi-dimensional, meta-narrative perspective.

The contributions of various scholars aim to address this shift by providing clear and concise essays that explore the changing representations of the past. These essays are written with the intention of being accessible to a wide audience, including students, teachers, and general readers. The book’s underlying theme revolves around the dichotomy between the absolute past and its relative representations over time.
