About the Book

How can we transition from an environmentally destructive economic system to a more sustainable one while still ensuring economic growth? This book offers a hopeful and practical vision for an environmentally sustainable future and outlines the necessary steps to make the transition.

Steven Cohen delves into the causes of environmental degradation and provides a clear picture of what sustainability looks like in practice. He charts out realistic paths to a renewable resource-based economy, pointing out that, in many ways, the shift to sustainability is already underway. The book highlights various public policy and infrastructure initiatives that can encourage cleaner production in the private sector and promote sustainable consumption in everyday life. Cohen emphasizes that the politics and communication around environmental protection must shift focus from scare tactics to success stories, making sustainable lifestyles and careers more attractive and accessible to a wide range of people.

Through his detailed analysis, Cohen presents a future that is not only environmentally responsible but also economically equitable, ensuring a high quality of life while protecting the planet. Environmentally Sustainable Growth brings together the latest insights from multiple disciplines, blending academic scholarship and practical experience.
