About the Book
This book provides an insightful exploration of the essential relationship between man and the environment, a cornerstone of geographical study. It focuses on the critical issue of environmental degradation, which is closely tied to the increasing human impact on the environment. Geographers have long studied the components of ecosystems and their effects on human society, and this book delves into both global and regional environmental issues, offering a comprehensive look at sustainable development.
Now in its updated edition, the book presents an interdisciplinary analysis of the natural and anthropogenic elements of the environment, with several new topics added to keep the content contemporary. These include four new chapters on Biomes, Biodiversity, Climate Change, and Towards Sustainability, making it an essential resource for students of geography and environmental science.
In addition to its academic value, the book is accessible to a broader social science audience interested in applying social knowledge to global and local environmental problems.
