About Dokra:
Dokra is renowned worldwide for its primeval simplicity, captivating folk motifs, and rustic beauty. This traditional craft, primarily practiced in Bikna (Bankura) and Dariyapur (Bardhaman), has acquired Geographical Indication (GI) status. The craft utilizes the ancient ‘lost wax casting’ (cire perdue) technique, one of the earliest methods of non-ferrous metal casting. This allows artisans to create unique and intricate metal works.
