About Dokhna

Dokhna is a traditional wear from North Bengal, known for its elegant and colourful designs. Women wear Dokhna as an exquisite wrap that stretches from the chest to the ankle. Some Dokhnas are plain, while others feature a rich tapestry of motifs inspired by nature, all handwoven on loin looms.

Involved in the production of Dokhna are about 150 weavers and artisans from the Cooch Behar district. Biswa Bangla has reinvented this traditional two-piece woven drape into sarees, dhotis, and shawls, allowing the elegance of Dokhna to be worn in modern forms.
