About the Book
This book explores the evolving formations of the Indian diaspora through its literary and cultural representations. It focuses on how contemporary Indian diaspora literature and films, produced over the last two decades, engage with the changing experiences of Indian diaspora communities worldwide. The book investigates several critical themes:
-
Inter/Intra-Community Diasporic Interactions: How diaspora writers and filmmakers have addressed the dynamics within and between different diaspora communities.
-
Transformation of Host Country and Diaspora Relations: How globalization, capital flows, and transnational trade have altered the relationship between host countries and Indian diaspora communities.
-
Immigration Policies and Terrorism: The book also considers how Indian diaspora writers and filmmakers respond to the evolving immigration policies, especially in light of increasing terrorist threats globally.
-
Representation of Homeland and Hostland: How these writers and filmmakers depict both the homeland and the hostland, taking into account the factors involved in the production and consumption of diaspora literature and films.
This work offers in-depth analysis on the intersections of globalization, diaspora, and cultural production, serving as an invaluable resource for those interested in India Studies, Diaspora Studies, Literary Criticism, and Film Studies.
