About the Book
Understanding gender in the Indian context is a challenging task, largely due to the intricate social structure that combines traditional values with modern influences. This volume provides a comprehensive exploration of the various issues and challenges that hinder the achievement of gender parity. Despite the implementation of strategies aimed at empowering women—such as political rights, economic freedom, and identity assertion—these efforts appear to fall short of their intended goals.
Divided into three distinct sections, the book takes into account the diversity of women's issues and concerns. Through empirical research conducted over the past three decades, it maps the process of women’s empowerment in India. The book offers critical insights into the changing status of Indian women, highlighting the ongoing struggle for gender equality.
