About the Book
Bharat Mein Badh Prabandhan (A Geographical Study) addresses the increasingly severe and devastating flood problems that India faces, exacerbated by rapid population growth, changing weather patterns, environmental pollution, and unplanned development. Every year, floods cause significant loss of life and property. In India, and across the world, policies and programs have been developed for flood control, prevention, and management. However, it is crucial to provide the public with fundamental knowledge about flood risks and prevention.
This book is divided into two parts. The first part introduces the concept of floods, providing a general overview of floods and highlighting flood management strategies. The second part presents a detailed geographical study of floods in the Ghaghara-Rapti Doab region in Uttar Pradesh. This section analyzes the nature of the flood problem, explores studies conducted worldwide, and discusses the geographical identity of the study area.
Through a spatial-temporal analysis of floods, the book addresses the historical background of floods, affected areas, and flood frequency analysis. It also explains the causes of floods in India, Uttar Pradesh, and the Ghaghara-Rapti Doab. The book further examines flood damage using a sequential and regional approach. Additionally, it offers an in-depth exploration of flood management, ranging from the national to the village level, including a focused chapter on flood management in the Doab region. The book reveals both physical and administrative challenges in flood management and presents integrated solutions, with a fascinating discussion on crop management as well.
This book is particularly useful for researchers, flood management experts, disaster management students, district disaster management centers, village leaders, policymakers, NGOs, and the general public.
