About the Author

Professor Shyam Lal has served as the Vice Chancellor of Patna University, Patna (Bihar), and has held the position of Vice Chancellor at both Jai Narain Vyas University and acted as the Vice Chancellor at Rajasthan University. He has also worked as the Chairman of the Pandulekhan Committee at the Ambedkar Foundation, Department of Arts, Literature, and Culture, Government of Rajasthan. Professor Lal has authored over 20 books and more than fifty research papers, with his expertise in sociology, anthropology, and Dalit studies.

He has been awarded the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Fellowship by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) for the years 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. His wide-ranging research and work on the Ambedkar movement make him a leading voice in the study of Dalit politics and social justice in India.
