Synopsis:
In the remote alleys of Subhasnagar, Dumdum, lives Alokesh Acharya, the son of a primary school teacher. A bright student and a skilled athlete, Alokesh grows up alongside his elder sister Juthika and younger sister Aparupa. However, his adolescent years take a tragic turn when he becomes infatuated with Sunanda, an older woman, only to experience a devastating shock—Sunanda, pregnant, commits suicide.
As he enrolls at Presidency College, another tragedy strikes—his younger sister Aparupa also takes her own life. These twin shocks leave Alokesh shattered. While pursuing his MSc, he wins the love of Deepanjana, a beautiful Physics Honors student. Later, he moves to IIT Bombay for research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, immersing himself in his work. However, in his absence, Deepanjana finds comfort in gym instructor Ali Ahmed Khan, leading to complex emotional entanglements. Uttaran is a tale of love, loss, and the unfolding layers of human relationships.
