Parents: Tarabhushan Bandyopadhyay & Bijoliprabha Bandyopadhyay
Education: Studied in Munger and later at Vidyasagar College, Kolkata. Completed his B.A. and later pursued law, graduating from Patna.
Career & Writing:
- Began his literary journey with poetry; his first poetry collection Joubonsmriti was published in 1325 Bengali Era.
- Gradually shifted to writing stories and novels, making literature his full-time career in 1929.
- Moved to Bombay in 1938 and worked as a screenwriter for Bombay Talkies and other film studios as a freelancer.
- Left the film industry in 1952 and settled permanently in Pune, devoting himself to writing.
Interests & Pseudonym: Had a deep interest in astrology and sometimes wrote under the pen name Chandrahas.
Awards: Rabindra Puraskar, Sharatsmriti Puraskar from Calcutta University, Motilal Award, and others.
Death: September 22, 1970.
