Synopsis:
A haunting novel that intertwines poetry and prose, Seisab Sheyalera follows a narrator whose understanding of Jibanananda Das’ famous poem evolves over time. Introduced to the poem by Ranga, he initially grasps only a vague sense of its meaning. However, as life unfolds, the poem becomes a mirror reflecting his own reality, merging the shadows of poetry with the familiar faces of his family—his father, mother, aunt, uncle, grandmother, even himself, and Ranga.
The story explores the curse of fate, the weight of past tragedies, and how one man's curse can manifest in repeated deaths and misfortunes within a single family. Joy Goswami masterfully breaks away from the traditional novel structure, crafting a deeply emotional narrative filled with poetic intensity, surprising twists, and literary brilliance.
This novel is a poetic journey through fate and coincidence, portraying a family caught in the delicate balance of inevitability and chance.
