Synopsis:
This is a remarkable life story, balancing between reality and illusion. Ranjoy Samanta, an almost destitute man from Sonaimuri village, rebuilds his life and his social standing, all while searching for his own identity. His companion, Kailash, remains a mysterious figure, sometimes visible, sometimes hidden.

Ranjoy, who had always avoided women, unexpectedly falls in love in middle age and marries Chhanda, a divorcée. However, Chhanda’s intense love, ambition to establish herself in Ranjoy’s business, and her physical dominance over him suffocate Ranjoy. After her mysterious death, he takes in Bidhura, a young widow, keeping her in a secluded farmhouse in Dopati with Kailash’s help. Through his relationship with the intelligent and sensual Bidhura, he seeks both physical and emotional fulfillment.

The novel takes several dramatic turns, weaving together characters like Diptomoy, Anitra, Madhunisha, and Rajanya. It delves into the complexities of human relationships, the conflict between body and mind, and ultimately surrenders to the inescapable fate of existence.
