Synopsis:
This book features two interconnected yet distinct novels, both rooted in the influence of Rabindranath Tagore.
📖 Sedin Chaitramas unfolds during the lockdown period, where Mitdru and Sneha, two strangers living in separate apartments in New Town, find solace in each other through mobile conversations. Despite never meeting, a deep emotional connection and an unspoken love begin to blossom. Two years later, their fate intertwines at Mitdru’s fiancée Haimonti’s house in Shantiniketan, leading to a poignant revelation of emotions. The novel, set against the backdrop of the pandemic, explores love, longing, and the eternal presence of Tagore in Bengali culture, echoed through the passionate speeches of Biswarup Mitra, a devoted Rabindranath admirer, and the poetic expressions of Mitdru and Sneha.
📖 Kusumbij is another Tagore-inspired story set in Birdi village during the aftermath of Rabindranath’s death and the turmoil of World War II. Shuddhashil, a British surveyor and a staunch Tagore admirer, arrives in the village for a land assessment assignment. There, he falls in love with Tamolika, a woman grieving Rabindranath’s passing. Eighty-two years later, civil engineer Ishita visits Birdi for an eco-village project, searching for traces of Tamolika’s existence. Amidst land acquisition conflicts, she encounters Sangram Bhattacharya, leading to an intense and complex relationship beyond time and memories.
