📚 About the Book:
- Chakra unfolds through lyrical and evocative storytelling, capturing the mysteries of life in Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay’s signature style.
- The novel is set in two contrasting locations—a rural village near Bardhaman and the bustling city of Kolkata—both tied together by a common link: Amal Roy.
- Amal’s childhood was rooted in the village, but after excelling in academics, he moved forward, leaving behind his past.
- Parul, Amal’s childhood love, was known for her strong personality. Their relationship ended abruptly when Amal’s passionate desire hurt her deeply.
- Amal moved abroad and married Mona, while Parul married a hardworking businessman, with whom she built a successful life.
- Years later, when Amal’s daughter, Sohag, visits the village, she undergoes a profound transformation, seeing Parul as a divine figure (Goddess).
- Meanwhile, Amal’s marriage with Mona begins to deteriorate as he struggles to forget Parul.
- The novel also introduces the enigmatic Rasik Bangal, a man with two wives, one in the village and one in the city, whose children share an uncanny resemblance.
- Another mysterious, ever-present character is Gourhari Chattopadhyay, who remains absent yet influences the story deeply.
- Sohag’s friend Panna becomes another key figure in this intricate tale.
- Interestingly, an ordinary snake, without any words or direct role, connects the lives of all these characters, weaving them together in an invisible bond.
