Book Description

"Adamritakatha" revolves around the fascinating lives of two prominent figures in Bengali theatre: Adah (Ardhendu Sekhar Mustafi) and Amritlal Basu. These two luminaries, known for their roles as actors, had a special, enigmatic bond that extended beyond mere admiration. The novel delves into their deep connection and the intriguing spiritual and metaphysical forces that intertwined their destinies. Was it a mere admiration, or was there something more profound, an unspeakable chemistry between them?

The narrative is set against the backdrop of Bengali theatre's evolution, with references to legendary figures like Girish Chandra Ghosh and a myriad of other historical theatre personalities. The plot traverses through the light and shadows of the stage, revealing a profound search for meaning that the two actors were involved in throughout their lives. The novel intertwines historical facts with fiction, creating a meticulous research-based narrative that explores the mystical journey of these iconic characters.

Through their story, the book provides a window into the world of Bengali theatre, its evolution, its characters, and the sacred stage that defined it. It’s not just a biography or a historical recount but an exploration of a metaphysical dimension that captured the soul of Bengali theatre.
