About the Author
Ramapada Chowdhury was born on December 28, 1922, in Khargapur, a railway town in India. He spent his formative years in this industrial town, which influenced his perspective on the world. He pursued his higher education at Presidency College, Kolkata, where he completed his M.A. in English Literature. Known for his sharp intellectuality, Ramapada made significant contributions not only through his novels and short stories but also through essays and memoirs. His literary career is marked by a diverse range of writing, from fiction to critical essays, reflecting the nuances of contemporary society.
Throughout his career, Ramapada has been awarded several prestigious honors, including the Sahitya Akademi Award (1988), the Jagattarini Gold Medal from Calcutta University (1987), and the Rabindra Award (1971).
