Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay

• Born: November 2, 1935, in Dhaka, Bengal (now Bangladesh)
• Early Life: Grew up in different places due to his father's job in the railways, moving across Bengal, Assam, and Bihar during the Second World War.
• Education: Attended missionary schools and boarding schools; completed his B.A. and M.A. at Kolkata University.
• Career: Started as a schoolteacher, then moved into journalism, working with Anandabazar Patrika.
• Literary Contributions:
  • First short story published in Desh.
  • First novel, Ghunpoka.
  • Known for his children's literature, including Manojder Oddbhut Bari, which won the Vidyasagar Award in 1985.
  • Received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1989 for his novel Manabjamin.
