Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay

  • Education: Attended missionary schools and boarding schools; completed his B.A. and M.A. at Kolkata University.
  • Career: Started as a schoolteacher, then moved into journalism, working with Anandabazar Patrika.
  • Literary Contributions:
    • First short story published in Desh.
    • First novel, Ghunpoka.
    • Known for his children's literature, including Manojder Oddbhut Bari, which won the Vidyasagar Award in 1985.
    • Received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1989 for his novel Manabjamin.
