About The Book:
Ramrajya O Marxbad critically analyzes the rise of the "Ramrajya Parishad," a political party in northern India during the 1950s. The party’s aim was to institutionalize feudal capitalism, reinforce the caste system, and further entrench the oppression of women. What made this party unique was its claim that their reactionary ideology was supported by divine sanction and ancient Indian scriptures. The party's ideological leader was a monk named Karpatree, who was a follower of the Advaita philosophy of Shankaracharya and promoted illusionism (Maya).

In this book, renowned scholar Rahul Sankrityayan critiques the reactionary ideology of Karpatree Maharaj and dismantles the arguments made by this political group. Sankrityayan engages with the Marxist counter-arguments and discusses how Marxism emerged as the major obstacle to the success of such regressive ideologies. The book also addresses the influence of Buddhism, especially in the context of Dalit liberation under Dr. Ambedkar’s leadership, which posed a challenge to the caste system.

As we move towards the late 20th century, Sankrityayan warns of a resurgence of the "Ramrajya" rhetoric and the growing influence of fascist ideologies that distort history and geography, fostering intolerance and communalism. He draws parallels with Nazi ideology, illustrating how the modern advocates of such ideologies continue to promote a regressive vision, even calling for the return of women to the kitchen, and tearing down historical monuments in the name of superstition.

In this context, Ramrajya O Marxbad serves as an important tool for understanding and resisting contemporary fascist ideologies, highlighting the importance of Marxism as a defense against the exploitation and oppression that these ideologies seek to re-establish
