About the Author:
- Shibnarayan Ray was born in 1921 in Kolkata and educated at the University of Kolkata.
- He began his career as a lecturer at City College at the young age of 24, with his first essay collection Prakritik published the same year.
- Ray served as the head of the Department of Indian Studies at the University of Melbourne from 1963 to 1981, and later as the principal of Rabindra Bhavan at Santiniketan.
