About the Book:
The Butterfly Effect is a concept invented by the American meteorologist Edward N. Lorenz to highlight the possibility that small causes may have momentous effects. It is an idea that conveys that a single small incident can have a big impact in the future. The butterfly effect may take a lot of time, but it eventually leads to significant outcomes.

The author was born in a middle-class family as the second daughter. However, her parents were very forward-thinking in their outlook toward daughters as well as education. At no time did the author or her sister feel that their parents would have preferred sons over daughters. They were allowed to pursue their academic studies according to their interests, without any interference.

Her sister, Tapasya Didi, had completed her post-graduation and had appeared for the State Civil Services Exams. Although she was not hopeful of success, she decided to do B.Ed. to pass the time before her second attempt at the Civil Services exams. The B.Ed. application form arrived by post, but before it could be filled, the results of the Civil Services exams were out, and Tapasya Didi had cleared them.

The family celebrated her achievement. Since Tapasya Didi was no longer going to do B.Ed., the author decided to fill the form and pursue the course herself. Having already graduated, she thought of B.Ed. as a light course that would allow her to start preparing to follow in her sister's footsteps to join the State Administrative Services.
