About the Book

After India gained independence, it adopted a Constitution and introduced various welfare policies and schemes aimed at promoting self-governance. These initiatives targeted different areas and social groups, ensuring that the principles of democracy and the Constitution were translated into real-world action. Decades of these policies have had significant effects on various social groups, particularly in terms of welfare, human rights, development, and empowerment.

This book, "Impact of Welfare Measures in Rural India: A Case Study of Central Madhya Pradesh", presents a detailed analysis of the impact of these policies in selected villages of Central Madhya Pradesh. The study explores modernization-led development and provides a comparative analysis of the relationship between different social groups (castes) and the modern indices of development. It examines issues like economic life, health status, education, and the various institutions operating at the village level.

The book is valuable for researchers, policymakers, planners, and change agents who are working in rural and tribal areas. It offers a unique insight into the effectiveness of welfare measures and the challenges faced by the rural population.
