About the Author:
K. L. Sharma is a former Professor of Sociology at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, where he served from 1972 to 2003. He held various academic and administrative roles at JNU, including Rector (pro-Vice-Chancellor). Prof. Sharma was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, from 2003 to 2005. He has been a Visiting Professor at the College de France, Paris, multiple times since 1991.
Prof. Sharma has supervised over 100 M.Phil and Ph.D. students and authored twenty books and seventy research papers. His vast academic experience and contributions to sociology make him a leading authority on social structure and change in India.
