About the Author

H.Y. Siddiqui taught in the Department of Social Work at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, for over 35 years (1969–2005). He has contributed to various professional committees in India, such as the Panel on Social Work Education, Rehabilitation Council of India, and Association of Schools of Social Work in India. He has also worked as a consultant for national and international NGOs and funding agencies.

Professor Siddiqui has lectured on social work education, women’s issues, child labor, and drug abuse in several countries, including the USA, Canada, UK, New Zealand, Australia, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. He has authored and edited numerous books and articles in the field of social development.
