About the Book
Tin Minute Baish Seconde Biplab Asena is a compelling collection of three long poems by Subodh Sarkar that explores deep social, historical, and political themes. The title itself reflects the essence of revolution—its brevity, its anticipation, and its complexities. In his poetic journey, Sarkar brings together the personal and the political, focusing on issues of hunger, revolution, and history. He evokes powerful images of past struggles, particularly drawing on the Naxalite movement and the legacy of Karl Marx.
Through his sharp, prose-like verse, Sarkar questions the promises of independence and social justice, highlighting the discrepancy between idealism and reality. The poems dive deep into the personal psyche, questioning the realities of hunger and deprivation, both literal and metaphorical. The poet challenges the notion that revolutions can be completed in a brief moment, exploring the length and depth of social change in stark, disillusioned terms.
The book critiques the narrative of progress and revolution, asking whether true change has been achieved or if it is still just an unreachable ideal. The poems blur the lines between history and non-history, navigating through recent and past events with an unsettling clarity.
