About the Author:

Shrijat was born on December 21, 1975, in Kolkata. His father, the late Tapan Bandopadhyay, was a journalist, and his mother, Shreela Bandopadhyay, was a Hindustani classical singer. His grandfather, Music Acharya Tarapad Chakraborty, was a renowned musician. Shrijat began his literary journey with his first poetry book, Shesh Chithi, in 1999. He later gained recognition with books like Uranta Shab Jokar (2004), for which he received both the Anand Award and the Kritibas Award. In 2014, he was honored with the Bangla Academy Award for Karkatkranti’r Desh and the Sunil Gangopadhyay Award from the West Bengal Poetry Academy in 2020. He also writes novels, songs, and screenplays and represents Bengali poetry in various international forums, including the Iowa International Writers’ Workshop (2006), Edinburgh International Book Fair (2008), and Wales' Hay Festival (2017).
