About the Author:
- Mallika Sengupta was born on March 27, 1960, in Kolkata. She was a sociologist by profession, with a doctorate focusing on the social analysis of the portrayal of divorced women in Bengali novels. She started her teaching career in 1985 and began writing poetry in 1982 during her MA years. Besides poetry, she authored three novels and three feminist essays. She received several awards including the Sukanta Award, Junior Writers Fellowship from the Government of India, Anita-Sunil Basu Award, and others. She passed away on May 28, 2011
