Author Information:
- Subhash Mukherjee was born on 13th February 1919 in Naugaon, Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He moved to Kolkata in 1930 and joined Mitra School in Bhawanipur. He completed his B.A. from Scottish Church College.
- His first poetry collection, Padatik, was published in 1940.
- Mukherjee received the Akadami Award in 1964 for his book Jato Durey Jai.
- In 1977, he was awarded the Lotus Prize by the Afro-Asian Writers Association, and in 1988, the Kabir Award.
- He never worked in any formal job and was imprisoned for his political activities (1948-50).
- Subhash Mukherjee also wrote several books for children, including travelogues and a few novels, with Hungras published in 1972.
- His autobiography, Dholgovind er Atmodarshan, shares insights into his life.
- He passed away on 8th July 2003.
