Sebanti Ghosh was born in Siliguri. Her father, Horen Ghosh, was a former professor at Siliguri Commerce College, and her mother is Dipti Ghosh. She completed her schooling at Siliguri Girls' High School and pursued her postgraduate studies in Bengali Language and Literature at Santiniketan. She earned her B.Ed degree from Calcutta University.
Sebanti is a teacher by profession with a passion for travel and sleep.
She was awarded the Senior Fellowship by the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Government of India for research on women's writing (2008-2010).
Sebanti Ghosh has participated in poetry readings and discussions in cities like Kolkata, Gangtok, Guwahati, Delhi, Ludhiana, Bhopal, and has also represented Indian poetry at international platforms like the British Columbia University in Canada and Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute in 2011.
