Pinaki Thakur was born on March 22, 1959. Although he was an engineering student, he did not appear for the final exams. His father, Amal Thakur, was a leftist political activist, and his mother, Meera Thakur, was supportive of his creative endeavors. Pinaki started his career as a private tutor and later worked in a factory. He then joined the editorial team of "Desh" magazine and currently works at "Krittibas." His works span poetry, stories, novels, and essays, with over 20 books published. His poetry has been translated into English and several Indian languages. He has received numerous awards, including the "Krittibas" award, "Bangla Academy" award, and the 2012 Ananda Puraskar for his poetry collection Chumboner Khoto.
