Author Bio:

Kumarprasad Mukhopadhyay was born in February 1927 in Allahabad, India. He received his early education in Lucknow and went on to earn an M.A. in Economics and Sociology. He had a successful career as an officer in Central Government Industrial Management and later served as the Commercial Director at N.C.D.C., Coal Mines Authority, and Coal India Limited. After retiring in 1984, he remained associated with several companies and continued his passion for music.

His musical journey began at the age of 8, studying under Rabindralal Roy, and he was later trained by prominent musicians such as Padma Bhushan Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan and Ustad Fayaz Khan. Kumarprasad also studied under Ustad Ata Hussain Khan and Ustad Latafat Hussain Khan.

Mukhopadhyay has performed at major musical gatherings across India and has contributed significantly to Indian classical music through his speeches, performances, and writings. He has been honored with several prestigious accolades, including the Rabindra Award in 1403 and the Pandit Title by Gana Kala Parishad in 1972. His book, Kudrat Rangibirangi, was awarded the Rabindra Award for its contribution to the world of classical music literature.

Additionally, Kumarprasad has held several solo photography exhibitions at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, which have been highly praised.
