Book Summary:
Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay is a master storyteller who explores the mysteries of life as much as crime and suspense. His mystery stories are filled with subtle tension, psychological depth, and philosophical undertones. Each story goes beyond mere crime-solving, leaving a lasting impact on the reader’s mind.
A major highlight of this collection is Shabor Dasgupta, the iconic detective from Lalbazar.
- Outwardly, he appears cold, robotic, and unyielding, yet deep within, he is a sensitive and perceptive human being.
- His investigative methods reflect both brute force and deep psychological insight, making him not just a detective but a philosopher of human nature.
Apart from Shabor’s thrilling cases, the book includes other gripping thrillers like:
✔ Bikeler Mrityu (An Afternoon Death)
✔ Kapurus (The Coward)
✔ Rin (The Debt)
✔ Aloy Chhayay (In Light & Shadow)
✔ Siri Bhenge Bhenge (Descending the Stairs)
✔ Prajapoti’r Mrityu O Punorjonmo (The Death & Rebirth of a Butterfly)
✔ Kalo Beral Sada Beral (Black Cat, White Cat)
✔ Padakkhep (The Footsteps)
✔ Roop (The Form)
✔ Marich (The Mirage)
✔ Eagle’r Chokh (Eyes of the Eagle)
Each story balances dark crime with the illuminating power of love and morality, making this an unforgettable read for mystery lovers.
