Synopsis:

While Bengali literature is rich with humorous stories and witty essays, a full-fledged novel brimming with laughter and satire is a rarity. "Priya Amitabha" is the third installment in a series of hilarious novels, following "Amitabha B.M.E." and "Mr. Amitabha"—all of which stand as brilliant examples of nonsensical humor.

This novel captures the escapades of Amitabha, a carefree, irresponsible drifter, and his equally quirky friends as they embark on a bizarre adventure. At the heart of the story is the curious entry and eventual departure of Mahua from Amitabha’s life. Amidst the monotony and seriousness of daily life, "Priya Amitabha" offers a refreshing dose of pure, lighthearted fun—making it a must-read for those seeking unadulterated joy and laughter.

About the Author:

Born in 1945 in Kolkata, Shyamal Dutta Choudhury completed his higher secondary education at St. Lawrence High School and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University. He initially gained recognition for his humorous writings but later shifted focus to professional life, limiting his literary contributions.

In 1999, after voluntarily retiring from a senior position due to personal reasons, he re-engaged with writing. His short story "Stoneman" was first published in Anandamela (2001), followed by numerous stories in Desh, Sananda, Anandamela, and other leading Bengali magazines. His notable works include the 2014 Anandamela Puja special novel "Debshishu", followed by "Mr. Amitabha" (2015) and "Amitabha B.M.E." (2016). While he primarily excels in humor, his repertoire also includes mystery, horror, adventure, and science fiction.

Additionally, he has translated books between Bengali and English and is currently associated with a tea industry news magazine.
