Author's Bio
Bratya Basu (ব্রাত্য বসু) was born on September 25, 1969, in Kolkata. He is a graduate of Presidency College and Calcutta University, with a Master’s degree in Bengali Literature. Basu is widely recognized as one of the leading figures in modern Bengali theatre. Apart from being a playwright, he is also a director and actor, contributing significantly to both theatre and cinema.
He is the son of the prominent theatre personality, Bishnu Basu, and has won several prestigious awards such as:
- Shyamal Sen Smriti Samman (1998)
- Dishari Puraskar (2000)
- Satyen Mitra Puraskar (2001, 2003, 2004)
- Shilpayan Samman
His films Rasta, Teesta, and Tara have also garnered attention, further cementing his reputation as an influential artist across different mediums.
