Synopsis:
In Mohul Sukhar Chithi, renowned author Buddhadeb Guha presents himself in a new light. This novel, written in an innovative style, blends elements of travel writing, romance, and epistolary literature. The story unfolds through a series of letters sent from Bhutramaine Swamohulsukha, a place famous for manganese. These letters, addressed to a forbidden lover, receive no replies. Yet, through these one-sided correspondences, an intense, passionate, and deeply personal relationship is vividly portrayed. However, beyond its romantic facade, the novel delves into profound reflections on life, contemporary society, and human contradictions, questioning long-held perceptions and exposing hidden fractures in modern existence.
About the Author:
Buddhadeb Guha was a chartered accountant by profession but gained immense popularity as a writer. He was an ardent lover of forests and wildlife, frequently traveling through jungles, including those in Africa, Europe, Canada, the USA, Japan, and Thailand. His deep connection with Eastern India’s forests, wildlife, and indigenous people is reflected in his writings. His first published work was Jangalmohol, and over time, he became a literary sensation with numerous novels and short stories. His controversial novel Madhukari remains a long-time bestseller.
He won the Ananda Puraskar in 1977 and was also known for his musical talents, particularly in Rabindra Sangeet and Puratani Toppa. Several of his works have been adapted for television and films.
