Synopsis:

  • Some stories remain timeless, untouched by the dust of passing years—Kharkuto is one such novel.
  • This heart-touching story was adapted into the famous Bengali film Chhuti, which left a lasting impression on audiences. Even today, many recall the film’s soulful song "Amar Haath Dhore Tumi Niye Cholo Sokha", and the poignant face of Bhramar.
  • The novel has maintained its popularity across generations, with frequent reprints and high demand from readers.
  • Readers have often asked the author—"Who was Bhramar? Did Bimal Kar really see her? Why did she suffer so much? Who was Amal? Was the author himself a Christian?" Such persistent curiosity is a testament to the novel's deep emotional impact.
  • However, Kharkuto is not just a simple love story between two young people—it is something much bigger and more profound.
