Book Description:
Bhutan, once called the "Forbidden Land," may have shed this label on paper, but in spirit, it remains deeply mysterious, cloaked in its Buddhist-Tantric mysticism. Even the universally recognized face of Buddhism appears unfamiliar in this land.
Seeking the unknown Bhutan, Ranita, a schoolteacher from Kolkata, embarks on a solitary journey to this enigmatic country. There, she encounters an extraordinary Buddhist monk—a man seemingly at odds with monastic ideals, indulging in alcohol, meat, and carnal desires.
As fate entangles them, Ranita delves deeper into his world and discovers that he follows a rare sect of Buddhism, one that still lingers in Bhutan, tracing its roots back over 550 years. The shadows of an ancient monk seem to hover over this young ascetic, and Ranita begins to sense something supernatural about him. The inexplicable pull of his presence gradually mesmerizes and transforms her.
What began as a simple getaway during a school holiday turns into an unprecedented journey of self-discovery, leading Ranita to an unexplored crossroads in life—one that ensures her world will never be the same again.
