About the Author:

• Sunil Gangopadhyay
  Born on September 7, 1934, in Faridpur, Bangladesh, Sunil Gangopadhyay was one of Bengal's most influential and versatile writers. He pursued his education at Calcutta University, where he earned an M.A.
  Gangopadhyay’s early career involved tutoring, followed by various roles, including working as an officer trainee in an insurance company, a UNESCO worker, and a clerk in a government office. However, he is most renowned for his contribution to Bengali literature, particularly in poetry, novels, and short stories.
  His first major work was ‘Atmaprakash’ (Self-Revelation), and he later achieved significant fame for his novel ‘Arjun’. He was also the founder-editor of the prominent literary magazine ‘Krittibas’.
  Sunil Gangopadhyay received numerous prestigious awards, including the Ananda Puraskar, Bankim Puraskar (1983), and the Sahitya Akademi Award (1985). Known by several pen names, including Nil Lohit and Sanatan Pathak, his works have been widely read across Bengal and beyond.
  He passed away on October 23, 2012.
