About the Author: Atin Bandopadhyay
Atin Bandopadhyay was born in 1934 in Raihadi village, Dhaka district. His early life was shaped by the dislocation caused by Partition, which left him uprooted. His youth was marked by a nomadic existence, with various professions such as a sailor, truck cleaner, teacher, and school headmaster. He later worked as a factory manager, an advisor to a publishing company, and eventually entered journalism.
His literary career began with his first story published in the Obosor magazine. He won the prestigious Manik Smriti Award for his story Samudramanush and went on to receive the Shishir Award and a prize from Kolkata University.
Some of his notable works include Neelkantha Pakhir Khoje, Aloykik Jolyajan, Manusher Ghorbarir, Abad, Nagn Ishwar, and Ekti Joler Rekha. Atin Bandopadhyay passed away on January 19, 2019.
