About the Author
সুভাষচন্দ্র বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় (Subhas Chandra Bandyopadhyay) was born on 5th March 1937 in Ghatal, Medinipur. His father was Gopeshwar Bandyopadhyay, and his mother was Bimaladevi. He completed his M.A. from the University of Calcutta (1962) and later earned his Ph.D. (1972) on the topic "Folk Traditions in Modern Bengali Literature."
A renowned scholar of Bengali folklore and literature, he started his teaching career at Shibpur Dinabandhu College, Howrah, and later served as a Professor in the Bengali Department of the University of Calcutta. He was also the Secretary of the Postgraduate Arts and Commerce Department at the university.
He has been an invited speaker at various international universities and has authored several books on Bengali literature and folklore.
