About Batik Print:

Batik print is a technique that creates a three-dimensional feature, adding depth and texture to the fabric. This process involves a "resist" technique for creating intricate designs on textiles. Batik printed fabrics are known for their longevity and are often passed down as family heirlooms.

Biswa Bangla works with the young women of Birbhum, who are members of Self-Help Groups, to create vibrant contemporary designs in Batik. Each Batik saree takes around 2-4 days to produce, ensuring a unique and artisanal touch to every piece.

Colour, Texture & Wash Care Information:

  • General: The colour and texture of the product may slightly vary from the photograph due to the handmade nature of the saree.

  • Embroidery: Small irregularities may occur, which is typical for handwoven, hand-embroidered, or hand-crafted products. These variations are what make handmade textiles unique and charming.

  • Handwoven: Missing yarn, slubs, and uneven yarn contrasts are common in handwoven products. These natural features of the hand-weaving process contribute to the overall beauty and uniqueness of the saree.

  • Handprinted: Imperfections in hand-printing may be noticed, and colours may fade or bleed due to the traditional dyeing and printing methods employed.
