About Jamdani:
The Jamdani Saree is one of the most exquisite and traditional handwoven textiles of Bengal, renowned for its vibrant colours, intricate patterns, and rich motifs. Weaved with care in the districts of Nadia and Bardhaman, this saree is an authentic Jamdani piece made from silk. A Jamdani saree can take anywhere from 12 to 16 days to weave, depending on the design intricacy. Due to the time-consuming nature of this craft, many weavers turned to other employment options, but thanks to Biswa Bangla's support through design innovation and product diversification, the craft is making a revival, offering greater income opportunities to artisans.
Jamdani sarees are highly valued for their superior craftsmanship and are produced by over 1,000 skilled weavers and 2,000 ancillary artisans. These sarees are now available in silk, linen, and cotton-silk blend fabrics, and have been reintroduced in a variety of product forms including scarves, pocket squares, sarees, and shawls.
Colour, Texture & Wash Care Information:
-
General: Colour and texture of the product may slightly vary from the photograph due to the handmade nature of the saree.
-
Handwoven: Missing yarn, slobs, and uneven yarn contrasts are natural outcomes of the hand-weaving process. These features enhance the uniqueness and beauty of the saree.
-
Handprinted: The saree may exhibit slight imperfections in the design, and natural dyes may cause colour fading or bleeding.
