Tangail sarees are handwoven on cotton and silk, adorned with hand-worked butis (small motifs) or floral and contemporary designs. A distinctive feature of the Tangail saree is its extra weft buti, where tiny motifs are intricately woven all over the fabric using a Jacquard loom. These sarees are lightweight and ideal for daily wear, making them highly popular.
Tangail sarees are crafted by skilled artisans from Nadia and Bardhaman districts, with a rich tradition of weaving and design. The sarees showcase the craftsmanship of over 1,000 weavers and 2,000 ancillary artisans.
