About the Book
Social Movements offers a comprehensive sociological perspective on various significant social movements in India. Structured across ten insightful chapters, the book examines key movements such as the peasant movement, Dalit and backward class movement, tribal movements, women's movements, working-class movements, and environmental movements. It also includes a detailed theoretical framework explaining the types of movements, their causes, and their outcomes.

The authors delve into the foundational idea that movements are a universal feature of societies, often emerging from systemic dissatisfaction. This book analyzes the processes of collective action, behavior, and mobilization, helping readers understand how social transformations unfold in response to such unrest. It is a valuable resource for students, researchers, and anyone interested in the dynamics of Indian social movements.
