About the Author:
Nimaishadhan Basu was born in Ramkrishnapur, Howrah, to Tarapad Basu and Suhasini Basu. He completed his MA in History from the University of Calcutta and went on to earn a PhD and DLitt from the University of London. A distinguished historian, Basu served as a professor at Jadavpur University and as the Vice-Chancellor of Visva-Bharati University from 1984 to 1989. He has received numerous international accolades, including fellowships from Harvard University, Fulbright, the British Council, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Basu has authored several prominent works, such as Indian Awakening and Bengal, Racism, Struggle for Equality and Indian Nationalism, and edited works like Shashwat Vivekananda.
