About Santipuri Textiles & Saree:

Santipuri textiles, originating from the Santipur region in Nadia district, are Geographical Indication (GI) products of Bengal. Santipur is renowned for its superfine dhoti and sarees woven with nature-inspired designs on Jacquard looms. These sarees are crafted using fine cotton yarns (ranging from 60s to 100s) for both warp and weft. Around 500 weavers and 1,000 ancillary artisans contribute to the creation of these traditional textiles on handlooms in Santipur.

Biswa Bangla has revitalized this classic textile by incorporating mercerised combed cotton, which enhances the fabric’s lustre. Multiple washes only improve the feel and look of the fabric.

Colour, Texture & Wash Care Information:

  • General: Colour and texture may slightly vary due to lighting conditions or screen settings.

  • Embroidery: Slight irregularities in design are a natural feature of handwoven, hand-embroidered, and handcrafted products. These variations add to the unique charm of the saree, distinguishing it from machine-made items.

  • Handwoven: Missing yarns, slobs, and uneven yarn contrasts are normal in handwoven textiles. These are inherent traits of the hand-weaving process and contribute to the beauty and individuality of the saree.

  • Wash Care: Dry clean only. Cold wash is recommended to prevent any bleeding of natural dyes.
