About the Author:
Dr. N. S. Ramachandra Murthy, born in 1943 in Sitanagaram, Andhra Pradesh, is a seasoned archaeologist and historian with a specialization in epigraphy. He completed his M.A. in History with a focus on Archaeology from Andhra University in 1964 and received his Ph.D. from Karnatak University in 1981 for his research on the forts of Andhra.

With a career spanning over two and a half decades in the Department of Archaeology and Museums, he has served in various capacities across the state, including as Assistant Director (Epigraphy-Publications). His vast experience includes explorations, excavations, epigraphical studies, numismatics, temple art, and architectural documentation. His work is widely respected for its depth, accuracy, and contribution to the preservation of Andhra’s historical heritage.
