About the Author

Suchitra Bhattacharya (10 January 1950 – 12 May 2015) was one of Bengal’s most prolific and beloved authors. Born in Bhagalpur, she spent her formative years in South Kolkata, completing her education at Patna Women’s College and the University of Calcutta.

Suchitra began her career with diverse jobs before dedicating herself to writing in the late 1970s. She explored themes of women's struggles, societal issues, and human relationships in her works. Her narrative style, deeply rooted in the complexities of life, resonated with readers across generations.

Some of her notable achievements include:
